Peer Review Policy

UVSM Publications LLC maintains a rigorous editorial review process for all works published under its imprint. This policy describes the review model, evaluation criteria, and standards governing publication decisions.

Review Model

UVSM employs an Editorial Board Review model with open review: reviewer identities are known to the author, and author identities are known to the reviewers. Each manuscript submitted for publication is reviewed by at least two members of the editorial board before a publication decision is made.

Editorial Board

Evaluation Criteria

Manuscripts are evaluated on:

  1. Originality — Does the work present novel ideas, arguments, or formal results?
  2. Rigor — Are the arguments logically sound? Are formal proofs valid? Are claims adequately supported?
  3. Clarity — Is the work clearly written and structured so that its contributions are accessible to qualified readers in the relevant field?
  4. Significance — Does the work make a meaningful contribution to its field or fields?

Process

  1. The author submits a completed manuscript to UVSM Publications.
  2. The manuscript is assigned to at least two editorial board members for review.
  3. Reviewers evaluate the manuscript against the criteria above and provide written assessments.
  4. Based on the reviews, the board reaches one of three decisions:
    • Accept — The manuscript is approved for publication as submitted or with minor corrections.
    • Revise and resubmit — The manuscript requires substantive revision before a final decision can be made.
    • Decline — The manuscript does not meet UVSM’s standards for publication.
  5. The author is notified of the decision with reviewer feedback.

Timeline

UVSM aims to complete the initial review within 60 days of submission. Complex or lengthy manuscripts may require additional time.

Conflict of Interest

Board members with a direct conflict of interest regarding a submission (e.g., the board member is the author) recuse themselves from that review. In cases where the author is a board member, the remaining board members conduct the review independently. UVSM acknowledges that its managing member is also its primary author; the editorial review structure is designed to account for this transparently.

Appeals

Authors may request reconsideration of a declined manuscript by submitting a written response addressing the reviewers’ concerns. The board will evaluate the response and issue a final decision.

External Reviewers

For manuscripts in specialized subject areas where additional expertise is needed, the board may invite qualified external reviewers to participate in the evaluation. External reviewers are selected for relevant domain knowledge and absence of conflicts of interest.
